Literary Lines of Communication from Yesterday until Today

The Berlin writer Katerina Poladjan, currently Writer-in-Residence at the cultural Academy Tarabya, and the author Imre Török will exchange views on the process of remembering in conversation with Dilsad Budak. How does literature transport the past into the present, and with what effects? Both authors will read excerpts from their novels in which the protagonists travel back in time: in Török’s Königin von Ägypten (Queen of Egypt), Djavidan Hanum, an artist and women’s rights activist; in Poladjan’s In einer Nacht, woanders (One Night, Somewhere Else), the heroine Masha, who is tracing her family history in Russia and thereby confronting her fears and memories.
