There are many publishers all over the world who wish to discover Turkish literature and bring it to readers in their country. Those who have not yet visited İstanbul are eager to learn more and discover this wonderful city. There is no doubt that to discover İstanbul first hand, to spend time in this city thriving with literature and meet the people on the literary scene personally is to discover Turkish literature in all its richness.

Istanbul Tanpınar Literature Festival aims to increase the visibility of Turkish literature abroad, to promote Turkish literature worldwide and to enrich the literary scene in Turkey by extending horizons and creating new dialogues. So with this aim in mind we set up the ITEF Fellowship Programme in 2011.

As the largest international literary festival in Turkey, ITEF is a unique meeting point for writers, publishers, agencies, translators, journalists, literary fund managers, festival co-ordinators and all of those passionate about world literature. The programme allows a limited number of literary professionals from around the world to meet with Turkish counterparts in their field, to share best practice and ideas and spark new projects and literary exchanges.
