Eileen O’Hely is a children’s author who writes for 5-10-year-olds. Born in Melbourne, Australia she moved to Sydney to complete a PhD in Astrophysics. Halfway through her thesis, Eileen realised she’d much rather make fun stories up for younger readers than write scientific papers about galaxies far, far away. After graduating she practised her creative writing skills whilst working in the IT industry, as an English teacher and as a sports journalist.
Her first book, Penny the Pencil, won the Children’s Books Ireland Bisto Honour Award. Penny’s adventures grew into a series which has been translated into Korean and Turkish.
Her latest books about the crime fighting cat Kitten Kaboodle will be published later this year.
